Lina Patel (she/her/hers) is a performer and writer. Her work investigates politics, family structures, and relationships in a precarious world. Her near-future family drama, “The Ragged Claws”, was nominated for Cherry Lane Theater’s Mentor Project. Selected other plays include, “Sankalpan”, an adaptation of Chekhov’s “Three Sisters” set in pre-Partition Bengal; “Bonobos”, a darkly comedic telenovela for the stage exploring female loyalty and friendship. Commissions include, Yale Rep, Chalk Rep, the Japanese American National Museum. Her work has been developed/presented at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, The New Group, The Lark, East West Players, Center Theater Group (Writer’s Workshop Alumna), Circle X Theater, Playwright’s Arena, and Artists at Play. Residencies include, New Harmony Project (2011 and 2020) and the Sewanee Writer’s Conference (Walter E. Dakin Fellow). Lina also writes for television, most recently two seasons of DC’s “Krypton”.
